Springtime it’s Prada Time

Never a stranger to incorporating other disciplines into fashion, Prada has launched its most recent collaboration, this time with artist Yang Fudon and the short film First Spring.

Set in Shanghai, the film is beautiful and dreamy, as with everything Prada. It requires a second lecture to really understand its substance. However, in line with the brands latest collections, it appeals immediately with it’s rich low-key lighting that reassembles Film Noir and German Expressionism. The film itself borders more on a surrealistic dream where René Magritte meets Chinatown.

The cast dressed in traditional costumes blend seamlessly  with the models styled in the Prada Spring Summer collection. The tropical island prints on the female models mix perfectly with the Qi Paos and Kimonos. The same goes for the men, even the mesh vests during the opening sequence don’t seem out of place. Instead the film makes it crystal clear that anything made by Prada, it’s indeed intended to be timelessly stylish!
